The monastic fraternity is a small or large community of people. All monks, in addition to prayer, are also required to contribute to the monastic community to which they belong. In this way, each undertakes to serve the diakonia and is require to complete it, since every task is necessary for the proper functioning of a monastery.
In addition to the diakonia services that contribute to the communal life and the daily needs of the monastics (cook, storekeeper, church clerk, etc.), other services are also developed in order to find resources for the maintenance of the Monastery (building works, paying bills) and the livelihood of the monastics.
In Makellaria Monastery we prepare spoon sweets, pasta, personal care items (such as soaps, wax ointments, moisturizers). We make wine and grape syrup from the vineyards and harvest honey from the beehives. We also make prayer ropes, bracelets, Easter candles and Christmas gifts. Some of our products are suitably packaged and available for sale in the showroom of the Monastery. All products are prepared by the nuns with pure materials and are friendly for the environmental and beneficial for human health.
You can buy products of the Monastery when you visit or you can order them online at oure-shop or by phone.
